It was already a few weeks after the
Rapture took place, and the newly-formed Tribulation Force was seeing things
coming together right out of Scriptures. The "son of perdition", whom they
suspected was Nicolae Carpathia, had made his first public appearance at the
United Nations and was now made the new Secretary-General of the organization.
Buck Williams had already been in the closed-room meeting where he witnessed
Carpathia murder Jonathan Stonagal and Joshua Todd-Cothran with a single shot,
and yet Carpathia claimed that both of them ended up murdering themselves, which
everybody else present in that meeting, including his friend Chaim Rosenzweig,
believed they saw. That was also the meeting where the "ten kings" that would
have power to rule with the Beast for one hour, as it said in Revelation, were
chosen.
Some time later, Buck would appear at
another meeting where Carpathia would unveil other new plans -- the changing of
the United Nations into Global Community, the changing of its location from New
York to New Babylon in Iraq, and the uniting of all religions into what would be
called Global Community Faith. The last of these new plans was what began to
affect what would happen in the weeks following the signing of the peace treaty
between Israel and the Global Community -- the "covenant with hell" that would
usher in the seven-year Tribulation period -- not only at New Hope Village
Church, but in other churches that stuck to solid preaching of the Bible,
including what prophecy said was going to happen and was happening right then
and there.
Although Buck, along with Bruce Barnes,
Rayford Steele, and his daughter Chloe, was glad to see more souls being saved
every day, there were those among the congregation that were really questioning
whether what was being preached from the pastor's pulpit was really true. The
four of them had no question about the truth, for they knew how vividly it was
portrayed in their lives with loved ones missing, and they like the Bereans
checked Scripture daily to find out whether those things were so. But as Buck
found out on the now-Carpathia-owned Trinity Broadcasting Network and other
religious broadcasting stations, the televangelists that weren't taken in the
Rapture were now all crowing the same false message to the gullible masses
receiving it -- that those taken in the Rapture were actually the "tares in
God's kingdom" being taken out so that God could usher in His kingdom here on
earth with "the righteous left behind". Proverbs 10:30 was a favorite verse
among them that Bruce knew was being taken right out of context to support their
beliefs. And if the stench of "prosperity gospel" teaching wasn't bad enough,
the same evangelists were also inviting shamans, spirit guides, voodoo
practitioners, sorcerers, gurus, priestesses, rabbis, and all sorts of experts
from various religions to appear on their shows to share their wisdom with their
hosts and audiences, blending it all with a mix of frequently poor Biblical
teaching. All this was slowly starting to make its way into the local body of
church believers worldwide, causing such divisions within groups that would lead
to pastors and congregants leaving churches to form their own new body, either
to stick to the truth of Scripture or to take heed to the seducing spirits and
demonic doctrines being peddled from the Global Community Faith leaders.
Bruce preached hard to counter these false
teachings of those who were being swept away into believing the lie of the
vanished ones being the tares removed. He had to constantly remind those who
became believers during his new pastorship of the New Hope Village Church that
the ones removed are safe with God and Jesus for all eternity, that they were
not appointed unto wrath but to obtain salvation through the Lord Jesus Christ.
He warned people to be careful not to turn their backs to the truth to accept
what Global Community Faith was preaching. But as Rayford and Chloe could see,
there were those who once accepted Christ after the Rapture who were now
departing from the true faith, the only faith left in the world that could save
them.
Then came all sorts of signs and wonders
being performed by those that became believers of the Global Community Faith --
regardless of what religion they originally practiced. There was more than just
people speaking in tongues and prophesying things and doing miraculous healings;
there was also people who fell down under a spiritual power and acted like
animals, laughed uncontrollably, and behaved like they were drunks at a party;
there were all sorts of "angelic visitations", "glory clouds" that filled rooms,
showers of "gold dust", oil that poured from people's hands, and even things
that turned to gold. It was worse than the so-called "revivals" that Bruce heard
about that broke out in certain churches in modern times, because those who had
experienced these signs and wonders had now taunted those who were true
Christians for the perceived lack of the same happening in their church
services, condemning them for being too unloving, judgmental, divisive, and
traditionalist even when the true Christians tried to reason with them through
Scripture the truth about these signs and wonders.
One particular sign that became prominent
was a supposed vision of Mary that now told the faithful that their faith would
have a new name, the name of Enigma Babylon, because of the wonderful mystery of
how they all put aside their differences to embrace a religion of true love and
peace among men. This vision of Mary outrightly condemned biblical Christianity
by calling it a demonic religion for having it be the only true way to be with
God, and that its God preached a false message that those who didn't believe in
His Son would forever be cast into hell. Surprisingly, none of the Global
Community Faith believers who were once professing Christians ever balked at
hearing this message coming from a vision of Mary -- least of all the
newly-elected Pontifex Maximus Peter Cardinal Mathews, who was then moved to
officially rename the faith Enigma Babylon One World Faith.
None of this ever escaped the attention of
Eli and Moishe, the two witnesses of Revelation that boldly prophesied in
Jerusalem at the Wailing Wall as they continued to cut off the rain supply in
Israel and strike the earth with all kinds of plagues as often as they desired.
They outrightly spoke against Enigma Babylon itself, saying, "God will show the
judgment of the great harlot who sits on many waters, with whom the kings of the
earth are committing fornication, and the inhabitants of the earth are now drunk
with the wine of her fornication. The waters where the harlot sits are peoples,
multitudes, nations, and tongues. The ten horns of the beast, they will hate the
harlot, make her naked and desolate, eat her flesh and burn her with fire. For
God will put it into their hearts to fulfill His purpose, to be of one mind, and
to give their kingdom to the beast, until the words of God are fulfilled."
However, very little of what Eli and Moishe said about Enigma Babylon appeared
on any of the networks, though the faithful Enigma Babylon evangelists put their
own spin on the two witnesses' message and called them "false prophets"
possessed with "Jezebel spirits" that were "touching the Lord's anointed" and
"blaspheming the Holy Spirit".
Rayford, Chloe, and Buck began to feel how hard it was for
Bruce to continue being one of the few voices left in the world that still stood
by the truth of Scripture, who even took the abuse aimed at him and other
believers from the Enigma Babylon faithful and yet still cared enough to pray
that those who were being enticed by all the signs and wonders taking place in
their congregations that they would have their eyes opened and turn back to God
before it was too late. Even though Rayford was now transitioning himself to
take on his new job working as Nicolae Carpathia's personal pilot and Bruce felt
led to doing worldwide evangelism, the four of them kept praying for strength to
endure the coming days ahead for each other and for the world that was slowly
being led astray by Carpathia.
